Learning begins with attunement: to your child's nervous system, to their sensory profile, to their interests, and to their authentic pace. Let me help you get there.
Michelle Stevens is an educational consultant and osteopathic practitioner who specializes in supporting neurodivergent children through a nervous-system-first, strength-based approach to learning.
She is currently pursuing an M.Ed. in Cognitive Diversity at Elmbridge University, where her research focuses on maternal self-efficacy, strength-based mindset shifts, and autonomy-supportive learning for autistic PDA homeschoolers.
Drawing on her background in neuroscience, osteopathy, yoga, and embodied movement education, Michelle integrates relational neurobiology with practical, strength-based approaches to learning. She teaches parents and educators how to tune in to a child's unique rhythms, and how to "tune their own instrument" so co-regulation and connection can flourish.
Michelle is passionate about replacing behaviour-based models with compassionate, autonomy-respecting frameworks that honour each child's creativity, intensity, and divergent ways of processing the world. She works with families to create low-demand, interest-driven, deeply individualized learning environments where children can thrive without masking, fear, or burnout.
A long-time homeschooler, researcher, and advocate for neurodiversity-affirming education, Michelle brings a rare integration of clinical training, sensory awareness, and lived experience. Her work helps families shift from surviving to attuned, connected, joyful learning - one child, one nervous system, one relationship at a time.
Before a child can engage with ideas, skills, or curriculum, their body and brain need to feel safe, connected, and understood. This is why we attune to the child first — listening to their cues, noticing their sensory world, and meeting them where they are.
Attunement creates the conditions in which learning becomes possible. When a child feels seen and supported, their brain shifts out of threat mode and into curiosity, openness, and engagement.
Understanding a child's neurotype, along with their strengths, interests, and natural rhythms, helps us attune with accuracy and compassion. These insights become essential tools for designing learning environments and plans that truly fit the child — supporting growth without overwhelm, and building success from the inside out.
A regulated nervous system is the foundation of all learning. We create conditions of felt safety before anything else.
We begin by noticing what already works — strengths, interests, and natural rhythms — and build outward from there.
Learning unfolds on the child's own timeline, free from comparison, pressure, or the need to perform readiness.
Each pathway is designed to meet your family where you are — with warmth, depth, and practical support that honours your child's unique way of being.
A gentle, neurodiversity-affirming assessment that identifies your child's strengths, interests, motivations, sensory profile, and learning style. Instead of focusing on deficits, we uncover the conditions in which your child naturally thrives. This creates a clear foundation for attuned, personalized learning.
Individualized homeschooling plans that follow your child's pace, strengths, and neurotype. These plans reduce overwhelm, support autonomy, and create meaningful learning experiences without pressure. Perfect for autistic, PDA, ADHD, and 2e learners who need flexibility and connection first.
For both parents and kids! Gentle, regulation-first practices that support attunement, co-regulation, and embodied awareness. Through simple movement, breath, interoception work, and mindfulness, parent and child learn to tune into their bodies, soften overwhelm, and build nervous system resilience together.
Play-based movement, sensory support tools, and well-timed movement breaks designed to meet your child's unique nervous system needs. We use vestibular, proprioceptive and other sense-rich activities, grounding routines, and individualized sensory supports to help your child feel organized, centered, and ready to learn.
Every offering is designed with flexibility and compassion — because no two families, and no two children, are the same.
Our most complete plan - bringing together strength-based assessments, learning design, and practical support to help families understand how your child learns and create environments where their strengths can emerge.
Whether your child is currently homeschooled, transitioning out of school, or still enrolled but struggling within the school environment, this process helps identify practical ways to support learning that are aligned with their neurotype.
Every family leaves with a personalized report built around Dr. Susan Baum's five essential learning environments: Physical, Intellectual, Creative, Emotional, and Social. A roadmap for both learning and life.
Coaching sessions are available as an addition to your Attuned Strengths & Learning Plan, offering continued guidance as you implement and refine your child’s learning environment. Or, they might be the place you start. You may already have a plan and simply want help adapting it.
You may be navigating challenges and need a sounding board. You may want to focus on only one of the above avenues of exploration - learning, movement, the sensory world or parental support. You may be seeking thoughtful, neurodiversity-affirming support around your child’s neurotype, motivation, learning style, or family dynamics. I will meet you where you are, be collaborative and grounded in real life.
Together we ground ourselves in the 3 C's: Curiosity, Creativity & Collaboration
None of us are meant to do this alone.
Parenting a neurodivergent child, especially one navigating burnout, big emotions, or a PDA profile , can be beautiful and exhausting all at once. The decisions are layered. The path is rarely straight or well understood. And sometimes it feels like you’re the only one walking it.
The Attuned Parents Circle is a space to gather with your neurokin, parents who recognize the terrain you’re navigating and the shifts you’re trying to make.
This circle reflects the heart of The Attuned Learner: Learning and growth begin in relationship.
I believe this work should be accessible to families who need it. I offer a limited number of sliding scale spaces each term. If cost is a barrier, please reach out.
My graduate research is grounded in a workshop I am developing for mothers who are homeschooling autistic children with PDA profiles after traditional school environments have become unsustainable. These are families navigating school distress, burnout, and relational rupture.
In this work, I coach mothers on how to design strength-based, neurodiversity-affirming homeschool environments using evidence-informed approaches drawn from the research into neurodivergence, gifted and twice-exceptional (2e) education.
Rather than trying to fix what isn't working, this approach begins by noticing what already is. We start by identifying your child's strengths and interests, creating learning experiences that feel engaging instead of draining, and building rhythms at home that are sustainable for the whole family. This is not about replicating school at home — it is about rebuilding learning in a way that feels possible again.
My research examines how participation in this workshop impacts maternal stress levels and maternal self-confidence, while also inviting reflection on children's engagement and family functioning during the transition from school to home-based learning.

"What actually helps families heal and learn when school is no longer working?" — this question drives every part of my research.
I would love to hear about your family's journey. Whether you are exploring options, ready to dive in, or simply curious - reach out. There is no pressure, only possibility.
